Linglong, 13 January 2021, Zhaoyuan, – Shandong Linglong Tyre Co., Ltd. (Linglong) signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with Beijing University of Chemical Technology and South China University of Technology to jointly research and develop innovative solutions for the tire industry in China.

In this industry-academia partnership, the three parties agree to carry out joint research and innovation through tapping each other’s strengths. Together, they will pilot 14 projects including the invention of biodegradable car tires and self-powered sensors for smart tires – with a strong research focus on green tech and solutions that are energy-saving, low in carbon and exude high performance.

To date, Linglong Tire has partnered with universities such as Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Tsinghua University, Jilin University, South China University of Technology, Beijing Jiaotong University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shandong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Qingdao University of Science and Technology. Through sharing capital and human resources, Linglong is able to enhance its own R&D and innovation capabilities, while achieving leapfrog in scientific and technological transformation.

Linglong Tire has had historical partnership with Beijing University of Chemical Technology. During their years of cooperation, they have jointly undertaken the National High-tech R&D “863 Program” and National Basic Research “973 Program'', amongst other major national scientific research projects. Both parties have also jointly developed 16 patents for new products and technologies, such as the dandelion rubber tire, large aircraft tire and energy- generating tire as well as the research of graphene and other advanced materials. In fact, two of the research results were awarded the second prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the National Technology Invention Awards.
